Aki Sushi

First time visit here and they really open 6pm sharp. Aki Sushi have dinner set seems like alot people ordering that.

I had this Salmon Mentai Rice cost Rm20, very thick salmon slices and very mentai😆

Can get discount from 611 Church Fund voucher, the staff scan the voucher also pretty fast

After a great visit previously, I came back for their lunch menu, expecting another good meal, unfortunately, my confidence was misplaced this time.

We ordered the Wakatori Karaage Don (fried chicken with rice, miso soup, and cabbage with sesame sauce) and a small Chirashi Don, which also came with miso soup.

When my Chirashi Don arrived, it looked different from the menu. Some of the ingredients were missing, and a new ones was appeared out of nowhere…

I asked the waiter and he casually explained the tamago has finished, so the kitchen replaced it with the kani. Apparently, customer consent is optional these days, eh?

Another disappointment — the rice. My Chirashi Don rice was awful. I couldn’t believe how they managed to turn Japanese steamed rice into a wet and clumpy mess.

It was disgusting and disgraceful. Japanese rice is one of the basic yet sacred element in Japanese cuisine — if that’s done poorly, what hope is there for the rest?

At the same time, I overheard another couple beside our table were complaining that the foods were lousy. Seems like disappointment was served on the menu that day.

If this is their idea of quality standard, I’ll happily take my appetite elsewhere - preferably somewhere that respects both foods and customer’s thoughts.

it’s was really nice

Nice food, waiters have good attitude to customer and the location easy to access

I’ve buying their salmon sushi from Pick n Pay regularly and I found it better than average and fresh, so I decided to visit their restaurant to explore more of their menu.

I had tried their food a few years back then and I thought it was just okay, anyhow my recent dine-in experience completely changed my perception…

I ordered their signature Buta Kaku Ni — Kyushu-style braised organic pork with savoury sweet soy sauce and served with steamed white rice, it was mind-blowing!

The pork was incredibly tender and beautifully caramelised. The lard melted effortlessly in my mouth. The buttery aftertaste lingered on my palate heavenly.

To satisfy my sushi cravings, I also had a plate from their special aburi mentaiko series — salmon, maguro, tako, ika, and ebi. It was nicely torched, creamy and hit the spot.

Mr Hubby went for the Ninniku Yaki Meshi, garlic fried rice. The subtle burnt taste combined with the rich flavour of fried garlic made it incredibly satisfying.

Unfortunately, the ramen series with braised pork wasn’t available during our visit, however that just gives me a reason to return. Definitely looking forward to it!
