Grab featured a 25% Dine Out Deal at this restaurant, and I chose it as our weekend dinner spot. We opted for the air-conditioned indoor seating.

I went for a small bowl of corn with crab soup — yes, real crab meat! The texture was smooth and comforting, though a little on the diluted side. 

Next came the stir-fried venison with ginger and green onions on a sizzling plate, served with two plates of white rice and an iced Chinese tea to balance it all out.

Overall, it was a pleasant and satisfying dinner — flavours were decent, portions just right, comforting environment and attentive service crews.

🌽 Soup, Sizzle and Savings Deal💰

Since the famous Uncle Lim HK Porridge has moved up from the second to the third floor, I decided it was time to check out the new spot — and turned it into a casual weekend breakfast date with Mr Hubby. 

They are open as early as 8:30 AM daily (except Mondays), perfect for early risers chasing that comforting bowl of Cantonese-style porridge.

The service crews are attentive, and quick to clear the tables despite the limited seating. I went for mixed pork porridge with an add-on of century egg, while Mr Hubby opted for egg toast paired with a classic hot teh C. 

A small but notable upgrade: no more flimsy plastic spoons! They now serve with proper glass spoons, giving a more traditional and classic touch.

However, the mall felt warm and stuffy without air-conditioning, and I found myself sweating halfway through breakfast. While the toilets were being cleaned, so I had to wait it out until they finished.

As for the food, it was comforting but average — smooth porridge with familiar flavours, nothing that particularly wowed the taste buds though. 

Perhaps the charm lies not in the taste but in nostalgia, a comforting reminder of family breakfasts and simpler days. A humble breakfast spot for those craving a taste of tradition — come for the nostalgia, not the novelty.

🆕 Floor, Same Old Nostalgia 🥣

It’s manicure day again — my favourite time of the month! 

This round, I went for something sleek and chic — shorter pointy nails with a new twist on the classics: French cat eye design. Simple, elegant, yet totally mesmerizing. 

As always, Grace nailed it. Plus, she has got a new AI-powered toy for drying the gel — no heat, no pain, no burning sensation, just pure comfort. 

I chose a black and gold cat eye combo, and it looks stunning — especially next to my new gold ring. I can’t stop staring at my hands right now!

💅🏻 French With Black & Gold, Never Gets Old 🥰 

I spent my Diwali holiday indulging in a comforting South Indian breakfast feast to fix my curry and tosai cravings.

The restaurant has revamped their menu with a wider range of breakfast options, and to my delight, I spotted one of my all-time favourites — idli. 

Soft, fluffy and steamed, the idli paired beautifully with their flavourful dhal and chutney. I couldn’t resist adding a personal touch by requesting some fish curry gravy. 

My tosai turned out a little lumpy (note to self: always request the crispy version next time!), so I skipped the photo, but the flavours made up for it. 

The meal wrapped up perfectly with a hot, less-sweet coffee bru made with fresh milk — smooth, fragrant, and the ideal comfort sip to complete a festive morning. 

A lovely holiday and Diwali breakfast filled with warmth, spice, and curry heaven!

☕️ Cravings Cured, Curry Approved ✅

After a great visit previously, I came back for their lunch menu, expecting another good meal, unfortunately, my confidence was misplaced this time. 

We ordered the Wakatori Karaage Don (fried chicken with rice, miso soup, and cabbage with sesame sauce) and a small Chirashi Don, which also came with miso soup. 

When my Chirashi Don arrived, it looked different from the menu. Some of the ingredients were missing, and a new ones was appeared out of nowhere… 

I asked the waiter and he casually explained the tamago has finished, so the kitchen replaced it with the kani. Apparently, customer consent is optional these days, eh?

Another disappointment — the rice. My Chirashi Don rice was awful. I couldn’t believe how they managed to turn Japanese steamed rice into a wet and clumpy mess. 

It was disgusting and disgraceful. Japanese rice is one of the basic yet sacred element in Japanese cuisine — if that’s done poorly, what hope is there for the rest?

At the same time, I overheard another couple beside our table were complaining that the foods were lousy. Seems like disappointment was served on the menu that day.

If this is their idea of quality standard, I’ll happily take my appetite elsewhere - preferably somewhere that respects both foods and customer’s thoughts.

🍱 I Was Served A Disaster & Disappoint-DON ❌

Uncle Gerry has moved again, anyhow this time even closer to my regular spot! Plus, he spiced things up with a brand-new menu addition: Nasi Lemak range. 

His Nasi Kerabu still takes the crown—fresh, flavourful, hygienic and the best I’ve ever had. Pair it with his signature fried chicken, crispy outside, juicy inside. 

The sambal? Just the right amount of kick—spicy enough for flavour, but still gentle to the taste bud, even for my colleagues who usually shy away from heat.

🐟 SEA-riously Worth It 🍟 

I’ve been seeing online ads about this Mexican bar and grill from KL opening at Imago (located beside HaiDiLao), so naturally I had to check it out for their menu. 

The ambience caught me right away, the interior is so beautifully decorated, with a lively vibe that makes you feel like you’re on a little getaway. 

The service crews were polite, super attentive and regularly checking in with customers, which kinda heartwarming and little too much for me. 

I was a little let down when they informed me they’ve ran out of burritos — the main reason I came for. So, I went for tacos instead: 2 hard shells and 2 soft shells.

The lamb and fish taco stole the show with its well-marinated, flavorful bite and no chewy bites. But, the chicken didn’t quite impress, it turned out too dry. 

To complete the meal, I paired it with a margarita tropical tequila slush, which was refreshing and complemented the tacos well. I’m intrigued with the strawberry flavour. 

The team was polite enough to recommend their Mexican hot sauce to pair with the tacos, which elevated the experience and extra kick for the taste buds. 

While I was disappointed about missing the burrito, overall, it was still a pleasant visit — and I’d definitely come back to give that elusive burrito a proper try!

🌮 Make Everyday Spec-TACO-lar 💀 

This spot popped into my mind as a weekend dinner choice since I used to order it through GrabFood way back, and the food left a good impression. 

The restaurant is tucked behind Putatan Platinum Apartment and Hotel—easy enough to find with Waze. It was quiet for a weekend, and made dining in relaxing. 

We went for a set of Nasi Mandi with Baulu and Chicken. I noticed that the portion was smaller and less generous compared to the menu photos. 

The taste was decent, but the fragrance wasn’t bold, not quite the same as I remembered of. The milkfish came as half serving, unlike other restaurants that serve it whole.

With the GrabFood dine-out deal plus the Merdeka promotion, we enjoyed two courses for the price of one—definitely a good bargain.

🍗 My Weekend Dinner Was MANDI-ful 🥄

Mr Hubby was thinking of Tenom noodles, so I whisked him off for a little breakfast date at this coffee shop. 

To my surprise, they’ve introduced a new system where customers need to take a number before sitting down. Honestly, I think it’s brilliant—so much more systematic and smooth. Big thumbs up from me!

The ladies running the floor were quick, attentive, and diligent, which set a nice tone for the day. 

I opted for Tenom noodles in egg gravy with housemade less-fat BBQ pork and egg roll. Even though the noodles were soaked in silky egg gravy, they still held onto that wonderful crispiness—something I’ve missed dearly. 

Unlike Tuaran or Tamparuli noodles, this texture is a rare find, and it instantly brought back nostalgic joy.

The stuffed fried bean curd was such a hearty. I walked away with a happy stomach and an even happier heart.

🍜 Hit Me NOODLE One More Time 🎶 

Despite their recent revamped menu, I still walked away with huge disappointment…

I ordered the Beef Menchi Katsu Bento. I believe the otoshi, mashed potato salad has randomly replaced with a nugget and a dollop of mayo. The AUDACITY! 

A simple courtesy of asking if I was okay with the replacement was completely ignored. 

For a restaurant that positions itself as a decent Japanese establishment, this kind of neglect in the service and respect for diners is unacceptable. 

Such a small gesture could have made a difference, but nope, nothing. No more for me.
