This is truly my favourite chicken rice in Damai. I’ve ordered it takeaway multiple times and every single time it delivers - deboned chicken, generous portions of rice, and a price that feels almost unreal.

It’s actually a humble Hainan chicken rice stall tucked right in front of Sinsuran Sang Nyuk Mian, run by a young lad with his staff. It’s available on Foodpanda app, and always sold out fast every afternoon. 

I first stumbled upon it during a rushed pre-work lunch, and wow - that “quick bite” turned into a full-on obsession. I always go for the chicken thigh rice, and the young boss remember every orders and works fast.

He debones it effortlessly, gives it a quick hot soup rinse, and serves it up warm and tender. Then comes the magic: fragrant rice, housemade chilli, and ginger sauce. That combo hits perfectly and aromatic. 

Every bite feels comforting yet exciting. And the best part? It’s only MYR10 and get a small bowl of chicken soup when dine in.  At that price, with that quality? Full satisfaction without any complaints.

🐔 Budget Chicken Rice, Premium Satisfaction 🍚 

There’s something quietly indulgent about returning to a ritual you never compromise on—and this month’s manicure delivered exactly that.

I went for a shorter almond shape this time, paired with the trending blush aesthetic and a delicate chrome tip. No intricate drawings, no overcomplication.

The process felt almost fleeting compared to my usual sessions, but what emerged was anything but simple. The finish was breathtaking. 

Think glass-like translucency catching the light at every angle, kissed with a champagne gold chrome that whispers luxury rather than shouting it. 

At the center, a soft blush bloom diffuses seamlessly into a white cat-eye effect, creating depth and dimension that feels almost ethereal. It’s clean. It’s elegant. 

It’s the kind of design that doesn’t demand attention—but effortlessly commands it. Proof that sometimes, refinement is about knowing exactly when to stop.

💅🏻 Glassy, Glossy & Champagne Tip Energy 💝

Recently, I’ve been on quiet hunt for the perfect chicken rice, and this spot kept appearing on my social media feed, hardly to ignore. 

Naturally, curiosity got the better of me, so I dropped by for brunch and ordered the corn-fed chicken thigh with their house-made fragrant rice.

The space itself is limited, with only a handful of indoor tables. As a result, diners often find themselves waiting patiently for seats. 

The chicken thigh was visually appealing and thoughtfully deboned. It was topped with a generous amount of fried garlic—perhaps too generous for my preference. 

The garlic, while aromatic, ended up overpowering the natural flavour of the chicken, masking what could have been a more balanced profile. 

The chilli sauce was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. As for the much-talked-about fragrant rice, it was honestly underwhelming. 

Despite the hype and glowing reviews, it lacked the signature aroma. Instead, it leaned more towards being greasy without fragrance.

The set meal included a soup of the day of chopped vegetables. Unfortunately, it came across as rather bland, it could have benefited from a touch more seasoning.

That said, the crowd tells a different story. It’s clear that many are willing to travel just to dine here, which speaks volumes about its reputation.

🐔 Corn Fed Chicken, Luxury Plating, Flavour Absence 🍚 

I revisited this café after quite some time, and it was pleasant to see that the menu has been refreshed with several new additions. 

For brunch, I ordered the Kimchick Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries, while Mr. Hubby opted for an iced cappuccino to cool down on a warm, sunny weekend.

The Kimchick is house teriyaki–glazed chicken thigh, hot honey, kimchi, melted cheese, all tucked between slices of wholemeal rye bread. 

The balance of flavours was excellent — savoury, slightly sweet, with a gentle tang from the kimchi that lifted the richness of the fried chicken. 

I especially enjoyed the crispness of the bread; it had that perfect brown crunch while still fitting comfortably into each bite.

The sweet potato fries were served with a pesto dipping sauce, which was definitely something different and pleasantly savoury. 

It complemented the fries beautifully and added a fragrant herbaceous note. I even asked for a little extra to spread on the wholemeal bread.

The sauce alone could make an excellent spread. Paired with the refreshing iced cappuccino, it made for a simple yet very satisfying brunch on a sunny weekend.

🥪 Crispy Brunch Moment ☕️ 

Post-CNY manicure, but I requested Grace to make it legendary inspired from Black Myth: Wukong 2024 RPG. It feels personal as a Monkey zodiac fan who grew up on the 1996 classic starring Dicky Cheung. 

The elongated stilettos shape sharpens the entire aesthetic, while the smoky nude base with burnt-ink marbling gives it that ancient scroll, mythic battlefield energy instead of basic black.

Grace hand-painted the Black Myth Wukong’s half-face with striking gold detailing that shifts under light, plus clean 3D sculpted elements of the iconic golden hoop headband and the Ruyi staff. 

The subtle green hulu accents paired with soft cloud illustrations softens the intensity — bringing in celestial vibes like mist swirling in heaven. It’s contrast done right: power and serenity coexisting. 

I sat for hours, steady and patient, and it was completely worth it. Sets like this aren’t rushed — they’re built. Bold, dimensional, myth-laden. This manicure that makes people stop and stare to admire the details. 

🖤 Myth Wukong: Mythology Manicure Masterpiece 🐵 

This café is one of those comforting late-night spots perfect for satisfying soft bean curd dessert cravings. Besides their classic offerings, they occasionally introduce new recommended menu items. 

My go-to order is the peach gum with grass jelly and chrysanthemum syrup. The textures work beautifully together, silky bean curd, delicate chewy peach gum, and cooling grass jelly that adds a refreshing herbal balance. 

I like to pour only half of the chrysanthemum syrup at first to keep the dessert light and less sweet. Then, towards the end, I add the remaining syrup for a sweeter finish, turning the final bites into a gentle ending.

🥣 A Bowl Of Comfort At Night 🌙 

This restaurant came highly recommended by many local Koreans, who boldly claimed it serves one of the most authentic and extensive Korean menus you can find in KK — and after my visit, I completely understand why.

The menu reads like a greatest-hits list straight out of Korean dramas, filled with familiar comfort dishes. What caught my attention immediately were the cold noodles and the pork blood sausage.

The moment we arrived, the space felt warm and homely. We were welcomed with six varieties of refillable banchan along with a comforting pot of steaming egg that set the tone for the meal. Oh yeah~

I want to try the mulnaengmyeon (usually available in korean bbq restaurant), featuring an icy beef broth that was tangy, clean, and incredibly refreshing, exactly what you crave after a hot day or a long working stretch.

Served with mustard, gochujang, and vinegar for personal adjustment, the flavours became even more lively with each bite. The slim buckwheat noodles were light and pleasantly chewy, satisfying without feeling heavy. 

Topped with slices of pear, shredded pickled radish, cucumber and half of hard boiled egg with lots of toasted white sesame added a cooling sweetness that made the entire bowl feel revitalising. 

To pair, I had the sundae, pork intestine stuffed with pig’s blood and thick glass noodles. The intestines leaned slightly overcooked, making them slight dry, but the flavour still delivered. 

Personally, I preferred dipping it into chilli sauce rather than salt — it brought out a richer and more balanced taste. These two items you don’t often see done confidently unless a restaurant truly knows its roots.

My absolute favourite of the night was the osam bulgogi — pork and squid sizzling together on a hot iron plate. The sweet-spicy sauce was deeply addictive, especially when eaten alongside rice. Need more rice. 

Mr. Hubby chose the classic sundubu jjigae, a spicy kimchi-based stew with soft tofu and egg. It was decent and comforting, exactly what you would expect from a traditional staple, taste familiar and reliable.

To end the meal, the service crews cleared our table promptly and served us with complimentary sikhye, a chilled sweet rice drink that ended with refreshing note, leaving a calm and satisfied finish without heavy. 

The service crew were fast, attentive, and consistently polite throughout the evening, making the entire experience smooth and genuinely pleasant. This place absolutely worth every penny.

☀️KK Heat VS Korean Cold Noodle 🍜 

My chef buddy told me the menu had changed and I make appointment with her instantly. The visit turned out to be more than just a meal; it felt like being invited into a series of stories told through food.

Every dish stood confidently on its own. Each plate carried a distinct personality, and together they created a dining experience that felt thoughtful and deeply personal. My palate was thoroughly delighted.

That’s the magic of her cooking — even with simple plating and unapologetical local ingredients, she transforms them into something memorable, especially when she shares the inspiration behind each dish.

The anchovy lemon pasta arrived incredibly aromatic. The stir-frying technique intensified the savoury depth of the buttery anchovies while keeping the pasta lively and textured while the lemon rewrites the ending. 

A generous squeeze of lemon elevated the entire flavour profile for me, adding brightness and balance, though Mr. Hubby preferred it without — proof that a small adjustment can completely change the experience.

One standout element was the zhoug sauce, which quickly became my obsession of the night. Think pesto, but with a Middle Eastern soul and a gentle spicy kick. I loved it so much that I asked for extra. 

The ebi sando was another highlight. I tore off a piece of the house-made sourdough and dipped it into the leftover broccoli Caesar sauce — an accidental combination that turned into pure indulgence. 

Then came the buttery, flaky lobster quiche. Modest appearance, but the flavour delivery was exceptional. The lobster was steamed, and its essence infused into leeks and onions, creating a deeply savoury filling. 

Her version of peanut sauce noodle is another level. Fine angel hair absorbed the rich peanut sauce, studded with crunchy peanut bits and ended with a subtle spicy note. It was creamy without being heavy. 

We ended the evening with bread pudding, a warm and comforting finale that closing the chapter. A sweet, satisfying ending to a dining experience that reminded me how powerful thoughtful cooking can be.

Some meals feed you. Some meals impress you. This one reminded me why I love food in the first place.  It’s not just about expensive ingredients or fancy plating, it’s about the thought, skill, and intention behind every bite.

🦞Simplicity Crafted Into Excellence 🍝 

Craving the bold, unapologetic flavours of Sichuan pickled fish I had in China, I decided to check out this place after seeing it recommended on social media. 

The stall was buzzing with customers, including tourists from China, and the waiting time was noticeably long, likely due to having only one chef handling everything. 

When the dishes arrived, presentation-wise, both looked promising. Unfortunately, the pickled fish missed the mark on authenticity after we tasted it. 

It lacked Sichuan peppercorns, which meant no numbing ma sensation. Instead of that layered heat and citrusy tingle, the dish leaned heavily on chopped garlic.

The Kung Pao Chicken was no real heat sensation instead it tasted more like a sweet soy-based stir-fry with dried chillies. Spicy in name, but gentle on the palate.

Rice is provided free, which is always appreciated, though the quality of the rice itself was fairly average and didn’t contribute much to the overall experience.

🌶️ Ma-La Expected, Mild-La Delivered 🤷🏻‍♀️

Finally I checked Lamprais off my food bucket list. And wow, I must emphasise this iconic Sri Lankan heritage comfort dish does not play small. 

At first glance, it’s not exactly love at first sight. Wrapped tight in a banana leaf, compact and aggressive. But once unwrapped, it’s a full-on flavour detonation. 

I ordered mine with mutton, and it was rich, bold, heavy in the best way, deeply spiced, unapologetically satisfying, the kind of meal that makes slow down eating.

There’s magical about food cooked in banana leaves. The aroma, moisture, the way flavours infuse, it’s culinary alchemy. Everything inside tastes more complete.

It comes with a small cup of curry gravy on the side. I asked for more because I like my meals flooded in curry. The service crew served a bigger bowl, they understood. 

I couldn’t finish it and took home, reheated it the next day and tasted even better. I think they’ve forgot to serve Papadum during the meal, I got a small bag to go.

🌶️ Fierce Meal, Legendary Taste 😋 

Pasta Pasta is shaking things up with their new premium  menu by bringing in smoked duck, mussels, and baked pasta to refresh the familiar comfort zone. 

Curious and hungry, and we went for a split decision: I ordered the mussels aglio olio, while Mr Hubby went straight for the baked pasta carbonara.

Mine arrived with four green-lipped mussels, glistening in garlicky oil. At this super affordable price point, they were decent and satisfying for a casual meal. 

Mr Hubby’s baked pasta, he called it “not bad,” which means acceptable but his heart still belongs to the classic carbonara with fettuccine.

🧄 Garlicky Mussels, Creamy Carbonara 🧀 

I’ve been dropping by for lunch almost every weekend like a routine for months now, drawn in by their special flavours and that unmistakable sourdough magic.

What makes it even better is knowing that sourdough pizza is a healthier choice, indulgence with a conscience and somehow, that makes every bite taste even better.

On my previous visit, I ordered the pesto pizza, and the aroma arrived before the plate did. It smelled like a garden just before I took my first bite.

Fresh basil, green and lively, must say the pesto paired effortlessly with the cheese, fragrant while the sourdough base delivered a satisfying acidity chew.
