This bright, clean, hip cafe is part coffee shop, part restaurant, and all adorable.
Staff here is very friendly and English is spoken. The food menu has a hit list of local favorites and specialties. And it's cooked well. Lots of flavor and quality ingredients. For this town, it's definitely up there at or near the top restaurants. They also have at least one legit vegetarian dish: Nasi Lemak with fried mushrooms (not vegan). Plenty of meat options and some breakfast options for those egg eaters.
Both visits we made here were great. Once for coffee and tea, with a delicious durian cream puff for a snack. And then a second day for lunch: a Thai milk tea, iced tea, and veggie Nasi Lemak. Super impressed both times. My wife consider a the Nasi Lemak to be one of the best dishes she's had in this country to date! If you dig meat, they have chicken and oxtail Lemak as well.
Tasty stuff, clean, cool interior, and great service. An easy choice here in Sandakan.
