It's located at rooftop of of the most oldest Sandakan Hotel, Hotel Nak.

I'm suggest to make early reservation for table at the rooftop with the restaurant in order to avoid disappointment during walk in.

I was there 5:30pm to take pictures of sunset & around the Bistro, and it was crowded with customer/guest after 6pm.

I would like to sit outside & enjoy the view, but it was burning hot so I decided to sit inside then, least there's air conditioners.

I was told their menu is available in their Facebook page. Personally thinking it's not convenient, I hope they can improve & make a QR code next time.

Their staffs are mostly youngsters, and they're very attentive to customer's orders & requests in order for everything to going well.

Desserts of the day are place in a cooler near the entrancd. I was asked by their staff 3 times when I'm looking up the menu, so I just placed my orders then.

I'd Elderflower honey lemon yoghurt shakes, soft shell crab salad, wild mushroom soup, gula melaka NZ lamb rack, and Swedish summer meatballs.

1. Elderflower honey lemon yoghurt shakes
It taste almost exactly like L&L, but this is more sweet & sour. In fact the yoghurt shakes menu are similar with L&L's.

2. Wild mushroom soup
Garlic bread is crispy & delightful taste, it's like a perfect sponge absorbed the soup. Soup is palatable as well.

3. Soft shell crab salad
My soft shell crab is missing half of it's legs. Also, it seems like a poke bowl instead of salad. Well, it's the only salad in the menu.

4. Swedish summer meatballs
It's slightly hard to bite the meatballs, the mash are yummy though. It has sweet sauce at the side of the mash. Well, isn't it obvious where's the insight from?

5. Gula melaka NZ lamb rack
The meat is tender, but with more fats. No gamey taste. Just alright for me.

Most of the people go there for beer, dinner & chill out with friends. It's the most 'atas' & decent Western Bistro at Sandakan.

Some of the furniture, door & the wooden stairs to rooftop are in poor condition. It's better to watch steps whenever walking around.

The most decent bar x restaurant in Sandakan. To get here, you have to naik lift from Nak Hotel’s lobby (quite vintage) If the weather is good, you’ll get a really good view of Sandakan’s city or even a MAJESTIC SUNSET!

This place was the closest I got to Kota Kinabalu’s hospitality. Balin Rooftop is a good idea when it comes to hanging out with friends, spending time with family members or just spending quality time alone 🥰

I’m generally not a picky person, therefore the food was okay for me. The cocktail is just not my type. Valrhona Blackforest Tart and bread pudding was really tasty 😩😋 I’m craving as I’m typing this

Been wanting to visit this rooftop restaurant for years & I finally visited this place during my Sandakan trip this round and we ordered:

✨ Lemon Merigue Tart (RM13)
- Hmmm I’ve tried better lemon tarts else where. Just that my personal preference for my lemon dessert is more sour. 😊
✨ Swedish Summer Meatballs (RM28)
- These meatballs are lamb & beef blended meatballs with extra dash of berry sauce at the side. Niceee 😍
✨ Wild Mushroom Soup (RM18)
- I also had better mushroom soup else where before. You may try if you like your dinner to start with a warm soup as a starter.
✨ Smoked Salmon & Snow Crab Sourdough Pizza (RM30)
- I like this pizza surprisingly. Their salmons served are thick & with a quick squeeze of lemon juice quickly elevated the pizza. 😌

Great ambiance, nice interior decoration with lots of natural lighting & cute plants. There are outdoor & indoor seatings available. You may organize parties at this cozy restaurant too. Waiters are very attentive & welcoming too. ☺️
