The “Jungle Jungle” exhibition by Zhang Xu Zhan was showcased at ILHAM Gallery. The exhibition featured the film “Compound Eyes of Tropical,” which won the Golden Horse Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2022. Other works included video animations, mixed media sculptures, paper puppets, and a site-specific paper installation. These pieces were inspired by Taiwan’s traditional “huzhi” technique, commonly used in ceremonial festivals. 

“Jungle Jungle” explored the commonalities and diversities between cultures, examining how music’s meaning changes in circulation and how oral stories and folktales adapt in different regions to produce localized versions.
