This modernised Thai noodle café has expanded across Malaysia, and this outlet marks its first presence in East Malaysia. Unfortunately, based on my experience today, it is a place I WOULDN’T recommend.
The visit left MORE frustration especially given the expectations set by its branding and menu presentation. Service was okay but the waiting time for the food was long considering what was eventually served.
The bowl appeared large and generous at first glance, yet the actual portion inside was surprisingly SMALL. To make matters worse, the soup was excessively SALTY, to the point it overwhelmed the palate.
The menu HEAVILY promotes Australian premium beef and wagyu with different price tier. On the menu photos, the dishes looked indulgent and well-balanced. However, in the reality, the contrast was stark.
When my husband’s meal arrived, both of us were genuinely SHOCKED. The bowl contained only TWO thin slices of shabu-shabu beef, a serving of Thai thin rice noodles, and a LARGE volume of broth.
Sensing that the portion would NOT be enough, I ordered an additional side of Thai rice noodles in advance. That decision turned out to be necessary. Even with the add-on, the meal barely reached a level of satiety.
Even more DISAPPOINTING was that the dishes served DID NOT resemble the menu images at all, which only deepened the sense of TOTALLY mismatch between promise and delivery.
What made the experience harder to justify was the PRICING. The cost was HIGHER than an average mixed beef soup at a local kopitiam, yet the portion and overall satisfaction fell short of that benchmark.
To be fair, Mr Hubby genuinely ENJOYED the Thai green milk tea with three types of boba, and I found the crispy deep-fried chicken to be well done, with a light battered and pleasant CRISPY texture.
A large bowl does not equate to generosity, and premium labels cannot excuse skimpy portions, excessive saltiness, or misleading visuals. This visit was more devastating and truly NOT enjoyable.
Kthxbye.
