I promptly picked this spot for brunch after it kept popping up on my home feed, also it’s just a short walk from my house. When we arrived, we were greeted by chaos, inside and outside were packed. .
Ordering, however, took a bit of patience. The service crew ladies were clearly under pressure, juggling orders from a sea of hungry and grumpy customers. Still, they kept their smile on and stayed polite throughout.
I went for the Jiang Nam–style Tawau noodle with wantan, fresh fish slices, and prawns, and also ordered a free-range chicken thigh rice set. While, Mr Hubby chose their signature, stir fried Tawau noodle with pork.
The noodles arrived fast—most likely because the chef fires up multiple orders at once. And wow, my noodle was the star of the table. Imagine crispy yee mee, but better - lighter, crunchier, and more addictive.
Now I understand why people call it the “keropok noodle.” Mr Hubby enjoyed his fried version too—solid, comforting, and done right. He paired it with their housemade super spicy chilli sauce.
There was a small hiccup with my free-range chicken rice though. Turns out the thigh wasn’t keyed into the order and had sold out by the time I checked. No drama—I switched to the free-range chicken breast instead.
It was fine. Mediocre, but edible. Fresh, clean-tasting, with that unmistakable free-range texture. Not exciting, but honest food. Interestingly, I noticed customer buying frozen free-range chickens directly from the shop.
Kthxbye.
