I discovered this Japanese omakase restaurant from XHS & Facebook consistently promoting their lunch donburi & omakase. I reached out to them & inquired about their lunch menu.
Mr Boyfriend generously treated me, my brother & his girlfriend to a weekend brunch birthday celebration. I booked a reservation online by the link they sent me through WhatsApp.
I selected our lunch orders & remarked it's for birthday brunch. We're requested to make a deposit of MYR50 each person & attached the payment slip prior to making a reservation.
We're warmly welcomed by one of the courteous lady manager & then invited into the dining hall when the chefs & service crews were well-informed of our arrival so they can get our brunch ingredients ready.
The dining hall boasts a sleek black interior with elegantly designed counter seatings up to 10 peoples. Chef Brian, with over a decade of experience in Japanese cuisine from KL assisted by Chef Ian.
Here's what we ordered:
Wagyu Don (Miyazaki A5 Wagyu, simmering egg with onion & Japanese steam rice)
Chirashi Don (assorted slices raw fish, scallop & sea urchin, sushi rice, marinated ginger & wasabi)
Engawa Don (Torched flounder fin, shredded egg, Ikura & sushi rice)
All lunch were included with appetisers of the day, chawanmushi, miso soup & desserts. We're somewhat content with our meals, however they didn't live up to our high expectations.
I couldn't taste the freshness of the seafood in my chirashi don, especially my favourite, sea urchin which taste neither sweet nor buttery & appeared in darker colour, despite it's beautiful presentation.
Mr Boyfriend's Wagyu was remarkably tender, somehow it lacked the rich beefy flavour, also the steamed white rice at the bottom was soggy & oily from the stir fried egg & onions.
My brother's Engawa was disappointingly bland & taste of only fish fats, according to him. Miso soup taste no luxury, & the chawanmushi doesn't have the Ikura as shown exactly in their pictures.
I'm pleasantly surprised by the birthday desserts from the other manager. It's 2 cheesecake cubes accompanied by a Teddy bear hugging a black sesame mochi which elegantly wrapped in leaves.
This thoughtful gesture deserves extra credits. My brother's girlfriend absolutely adored & enjoyed the housemade yuzu sorbet with peel. It's genuinely tanginess was simply delighful.
They asked for our feedback during payment process. Customers can request imported seafood for an additional charge, their seafood is sourced & airflow from Hokkaido.
Happy Birthday to me & my little brother!
Kthxbye.
