I’ve been seeing this place everywhere online lately, so last night I decided to finally check it out for dinner, since it’s located at the former spot Yit Foh Kopitiam.
We ordered the nasi ulam served with deep-fried battered king prawns and ayam berempah with spicy sambal, plus a side of otak-otak dim sum.
The nasi ulam was decent, but the mains were where things started slipping. Mr Hubby instantly pointed out the ayam berempah looked noticeably smaller.
My king prawns were okay in size, but the batter was overly salty. The otak-otak dim sum arrived late, and it was served with a pineapple chilli sauce.
Nonetheless, I couldn’t taste the otak-otak in the dim sum. Instead, the lemongrass flavour was extremely strong and totally overpowered the whole dish.
But what really upset me was the service crew taking the sauce away without even asking if we were done with it. That felt unprofessional and honestly quite rude.
Overall, I went in excited, highly expecting but left feeling underwhelmed. Inconsistent portions and careless service made the whole experience disappointing.
Kthxbye.
