🍴Sentuhan Ramadhan 🍖

The Ramadan buffet at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru this year was a mix of highs and lows, but left a memorable impression. The highlight was undoubtedly the roasted wagyu beef leg, which lived up to the hype and was a standout among the diverse offerings.
The early bird price of MYR 159.80 (down from MYR188) felt like a good deal for the variety and quality of the food and drinks served. However, the experience started on a rocky note when our reservation, despite being confirmed earlier, wasn’t available upon arrival.
Thankfully, a table was found, but it did dampen the initial excitement. Once seated, the culinary journey began with an array of enticing dishes like oxtail asam pedas, briyani, satay, ulam, kueh-muih, assorted kerabu, fresh seafood, Mongolian beef and many more.
The anticipation of the underground cooked whole Aussie roasted lamb was such a showstopper, especially when the kitchen crews carried and paraded it around the dining room with musical instruments truly added a festive and theatrical touch!
Chef George was a standout presence! He engaging with every guests and service crews took pictures with him at the Ramadan buffet. Shoutout to his enthusiasm and initiative to featuring in my video while I filmed the roasted chicken.
The drinks station was a hit, the young barista offering freshly made teh tarik, kopi susu with or without ice, while at other stall offering other refreshing options such as iced calamansi and Thai milk tea. There were a few hiccups though…
Some dishes leaned too salty, and the seating area became uncomfortably hot at one point, though the staff promptly helped us relocate to a cooler spot. The live singing performance near the back entrance, while entertaining, was a bit too loud for comfort.
Additionally, the slow cleanup of empty plates was a minor inconvenience to us, prolly due to insufficient working service crews on Monday blues, hence we have to keep stacking our empty plates on a neighboring table. Oops~
Despite the occasional missteps, the Shangri La Tanjung Aru Ramadan buffet delivered a flavourful and festive experience. With a few improvements and attention in management, service and dish consistency, it has the potential to be truly exceptional.
Kthxbye.
