Dropped by Happy Place Restaurant & Bar and their April–May luncheon set did not disappoint! The Satay Roast Chicken Rice came with a generously sized roast chicken leg (definitely not the “small small” type!), served with rich, flavourful satay sauce. The side of acar mentah with raw red onions? Really raw—no dressing in sight!

We also tried the Nasi Daging Palembang—the beef was tender and fragrant with spices. The unexpected highlight? Their onion rings! Crispy and definitely not the store-bought type—some big, some small, all very satisfying.

Couldn’t resist the Yuzu Quiche for takeaway (yuzu fans, hehe!). The croissant-like crust filled with yuzu cream was decently flavoured, though it lacked the yuzu bits I was hoping for. The swirled top cream was just plain cream—no yuzu at all. Not quite worth the dive with that much of cream, and definitely needs a few extra laps in the pool to shed the guilt!

Also tried the add-on ice cream for just RM2—guess what? Yup, more cream again...skipped then 😵

One more thing: The glass shelf listed the Yuzu Quiche at RM12, but the cashier said it was actually RM15. So folks—always check your receipt to verify any price discrepancies on the spot!

Verdict: A flavourful lunch spot that still lives up to its name—just be selective, and your tummy will thank you!

P/S: Their service is truly heartfelt. The moment they saw our car pulling into their lot on a rainy day, a staff member rushed out with an umbrella to escort us in. And if you can't leave your car? No worries—they’ll come right to you to take your order and payment. This thoughtful service is truly heartwarming and touching!

Still a Happy Place! Just Depends on Your Choice—Choose Wisely!

So, I’ve been looking for the Muji tube squeezer in KL for a while, but guess what? Out of stock during my visit 😩.

Recently, I checked out MUJI stores here in KK, but couldn’t find it... until I hit up the MUJI at Imago! 🙌

I asked one of the super friendly shop assistants, and he happily pointed me to the spot—right next to the toothbrush section! 💡 And there it was, just waiting for me, haha!

Honestly, this tube squeezer is such a bargain—at only RM4, it’s a practical gem! 🌟 Made of polypropylene, it’s super durable, safe, and easy to use. It’s perfect for squeezing out the last bit of toothpaste, face cream, and even sauces (no more product waste! 😆).

If you’re all about getting the most out of life (and toothpaste), this is your new best friend!

I always love to drop by and check out their pastries and cakes, simply to see what goodies they can offer, even though their prices are always on the higher side.

I’ve tried their Bailey's cheesecake before, but the Bailey's flavour was a bit too faint to discern.

The lemon meringue croissant lacked the expected flakiness; however, the lemon curd tasted yummy.

The bacon with maple-glazed nuts croissant— the bacon was not crispy and was somewhat tasteless, but the nuts were delicious with a pleasant crunch and sweetness. (Forgot to snap)

I also tried the Musang King choux puff. The outer skin of the choux puff was crispy, with its rich durian-flavoured cream where you can feel the durian flesh fibres in your mouth.

The key lime tart didn’t quite deliver the zesty punch I was hoping for.

Overall, while the café has a cozy ambiance and a creative menu, most of the bakes didn’t quite live up to expectations—except for that delightful puff, though I haven't seen it around lately, probably because it's not durian season yet.





So-So Pastries, only the Puff That Slaps

Okay, if you’re a true coffee fan, you NEED to try the coffee bun at Breadboss. It isn’t your average morning pick-me-up from other bakeries; it’s a bold, barista-level coffee experience on top of a soft bun. 

It’s not always on the shelf, so I have to make an effort to drop by and see if it’s there. And finally, today… they have it!!!


Who Needs a Cup When You Can Bite Into Your Coffee?

The studio is beautifully designed with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that immediately makes you feel calm and centered. The ambiance is perfect for focusing on your practice and leaving all distractions behind.

The facilities are top-notch, with lockers available for your personal items and a well-maintained washroom that includes a shower and a dressing table with hair dryer—perfect for freshening up after your workout. FYI, towels are available for rent at RM5, in case you forget to bring one.

I also joined their Move & Raya TikTok challenge and was thrilled to win a free pair of Pilates grip socks worth RM25—such a fun and thoughtful way to engage the community during the festive season!

Overall, Soul Pilates provides a fantastic experience with both style and comfort, making it the perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy a holistic Pilates session. Highly recommended!

Move Lah, It's Raya!

Precious Bake truly knows how to make every moment special! I was delighted to win a free Onycheesecake through Reviewbah's Spin & Win, and the entire experience—from picking up the cake to indulging in its rich flavour—was a pure joy.

The shop was beautifully decorated for Raya, making it a perfect spot to snap some memorable photos. I should have worn my Baju Raya to capture the full festive experience, haha! 

Though they don’t offer dine-in, their waiting area is designed like a cozy lounge, making the short wait feel comfortable and pleasant. Even their restroom was impressively well-designed and spotless—attention to detail at its finest!

Now, onto the star of the experience—the Onycheesecake! It was packed in an aesthetic box printed with the prestigious 2024 World Top Gourmet Award and 2024 International Prestige Brand Award (Brand of the Year Award) logos. The cake itself had a smooth, velvety texture and a rich, creamy taste that melted in my mouth. No wonder it’s so delicious—Precious Bake truly deserves this recognition!

With such a wonderful experience, I’m already thinking of getting their Combine 4 as a birthday cake next time—so we can enjoy multiple flavours in one go! Highly recommend Precious Bake for their quality, service, and beautifully crafted cakes.

Award-Winning Flavour in Every Bite

As a dark chocolate lover, I had high hopes for Jesselton Chocolate's Goji Berries Dark Chocolate, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the excitement. It’s not bad by any means, but it’s definitely a chocolate experience that feels a little too familiar. If you’re looking for something truly standout, this one might not hit the mark.

Mildly enjoyable, but forgettable without Wow factor...

Finally tried this so-called very popular croffle! Opted for the mini ones to share among the three of us—gotta avoid that sugar spike! 😆

Crunchy as they claimed (they say theirs are the crunchiest!), but a bit too sweet for my taste. The cream cheese sauce lacked a cheesy flavour, though.

一见到kopi kaw kaw tart, 就肯定不放过啦！说起这个所谓零香精，零色素，一粒可以提神，全马独创顶级海南咖啡蛋挞真的不是浪得虚名，浓郁程度果然 kaw kaw！ 虽然昨晚没睡好，提神效果也不太确定，但至少味道没令人失望！

又点了黄梨饼，看看能不能打败我心头爱——Walnut Bakery 版。

I’ve been a member of Sunlight Pharmacy for many years, and their service has always been excellent! The staff are incredibly helpful—you can text them to check stock availability, pay online, and collect at your convenience. On days when finding parking is difficult, they even bring your purchases to your car. Truly exceptional service!

Today, I had a great experience with one of the assistant pharmacists. He shared his personal journey with Expecare, explaining how it helped him reverse his bone density from an osteoporosis level to normal in just three months. That was such an eye-opener for me—maintaining strong bones is definitely a priority as I age!

He also explained that having an oily meal the night before could result in a higher cholesterol reading for the next three days. I’m not sure how true this is, but it did make me reflect on my previous night’s indulgence—my MIL’s delicious Hakka stuffed eggplants x 3 and stuffed tofu x 2! Next time, I’ll try eating clean for three days before my test, just to see the difference.

Overall, Sunlight Pharmacy continues to impress me with its knowledgeable staff, friendly service, and willingness to go the extra mile. Highly recommended!

Free Health Screening, go Go GO ~

The Azman Hashim UMS Gallery is a fantastic spot for art lovers. The building's circular design is inspired by the traditional Sabahan 'gong', giving it a unique character. One of its coolest features is the lift tower, 'Menara Beriu', resembling a 'bubu ikan'—a traditional fish trap used in Sabah—blending cultural heritage with modern architecture. ​

Due to its location at the end of the campus near the sea, mobile signal reception is limited. However, visitors can utilize the gallery's Wi-Fi to stay connected.​

Inside, you'll find captivating artworks by UMS students too, including playful and imaginative pieces that are perfect for kids and teens. 

There's also a collection of camel figurines from Tan Sri Azman Hashim, the founder of AmBank Group, introducing an unexpected element of charm to the gallery. ​I even spotted a camel piggy bank from AmBank!

The gallery also features a souvenir shop offering a variety of items, such as artworks, gallery and UMS-themed merchandise—including gong design fridge magnets and 'bubu ikan' replicas, and pinakol—flat beaded necklace by Rungus community.

Additionally, the lift provides access to Anjung Beriu at level 3, an open rooftop area, ideal for mini-concerts and sunset weddings, offering panoramic sea views and a unique open-air ambiance.​

There were so many more artworks displayed in different rooms at the gallery; I just snapped the ones that caught my eye as keepsakes. Viewing photos on a screen is convenient, but experiencing art in person is incomparable. You can actually feel it by staring at it, to see the colours pop, the textures stand out, and every brushstroke up close; somehow, you might stumble upon pieces that totally speak to your heart. In fact, visiting art galleries can actually reduce stress, enhance creativity, and boost happiness. 😊

Overall, it's a great place to visit, enjoy some art, and take in the beautiful scenery.

P/S: Only after my visit did I find out that back in 2015, Tan Sri Azman Hashim, through his charity, Yayasan Azman Hashim, donated RM15 million to build this gallery at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. It officially opened in 2021 and has since become a cultural landmark on the UMS campus. ​
