So far one of the best braised pork and curry chicken in town

A good friend of mine highly recommended this restaurant simply because of the pork was so damn good. And so, on this carnation-filled occasion, I’m here at Mom’s Recipe.

On admission, the restaurant was fulled with customers with empty dishes already. Seems like I managed to avoid the peak hour. The middle aged Chinese gentleman (presumably the proprietor) was rather friendly when sending over the menu adn helping to rearrange my seats. Adamant to try many things at once (as I would always try to), I had ordered their Signature Braised Pork Belly Mix Curry Chicken Mee and a Bubur Cha Cha.

The Bubur Cha Cha (RM6) was served up first and it looked promising at first glance, with the thick coconut milk texture with steaming hot soup. But upon further stirring, it was rather disappointing. I had expected chunks of 🍠 and yam, but instead I was greeted with rather small dice of sweet potatoes (sad 😭). I would way it was more on the sago rather than the supposed ingredients. Not the kind of desserts, and by the time I finished it my noodles were not served yet (you know where does this review lead to).
⭐️ ⭐️

After an unusual long wait for a bowl of noodles, finally it came. The Signature Braised Pork Belly Mix Curry Chicken Mee (RM13, add on egg RM1.50, add on meat RM2) was appetising. The glistening of the pork with the lard and the layer of fat was plentiful in the mouth, flavourful with the braised soy sauce. I thought to myself, indeed a good pork and wise choice to add on meat. The noodles was 👌, not to the extend of springy level but good mix no less. Having been hungry and waited long enough for a noodle, I quickly ploughed into it until my logic kicked in. Wait a minute, where is my CURRY CHICKEN??? Annoyed, halfway through the meal, I questioned one of the attendants and I did ordered correctly. I asked them to reduce the price to RM10 (the original price of a Signature Braised Pork Belly Mee) and I continued on. It’s Mother’s Day, and I’m tired, so less ruckus. Surprisingly, the attendant sent over a little bowl of curry chicken on the house. From the outlook of it, you can already tell that it was a good curry. The potato 🥔 was soft to bite, absorbed reasonable amount of curry gravy. The chicken cooked to tenderness, melting in you mouth had there not been any bones left. The curry itself was thick and aromatic. What a shame it came later when my noodles had finished 90%.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (minus ☝️ ⭐️ for all the mishaps)

In the end I paid the full bill as the curry chicken was really good.

Celebrate your mother everyday, not just on Mother’s Day.
They hold your best interest at heart, though you may not see them, always.

Happy Mother’s Day
